The Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2024 has recognized Malaysia’s growing culinary scene with an impressive lineup of awards and new entries. This year’s highlight is Dewakan, which became Malaysia’s first-ever two-Michelin-starred restaurant, celebrated for its innovative use of local ingredients under the leadership of Chef Darren Teoh.

Four restaurants retained their one-Michelin-star status: DC Restaurant, Restaurant au Jardin, Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery, and the newcomer Beta KL, recognized for its contemporary take on Malaysian cuisine.

Additionally, the guide expanded its selections with 25 new establishments (16 in Kuala Lumpur and 9 in Penang), bringing the total Michelin Selected restaurants to 77. These include notable entries like Nadodi (relocated in KL) and Penang Famous Samosa. The Bib Gourmand list, which highlights great food at affordable prices, was also updated with 14 new additions this year
